Horse Mackerel
Horse mackerel is found in the eastern Atlantic Ocean off Europe and Africa and into the south-eastern Indian Ocean. It is an important species in commercial fisheries.
The horse mackerel is consumed fresh and can be preserved by freezing, salting and drying, smoking and canning. It can be prepared by frying, broiling or baking.
Horse mackerel is also excellent bait for tuna fishing because of its silver/gold color and spiny line which runs down each side of the fish.
